Special Dhamma sermon and Bodhi pooja - 5th October
In conjunction with 2018 Vassana program, SIBC is pleased to offer a special Dhamma sermon by Thripitakawedi Panamwela Wajirabuddhi Maha Thero (Chief Abbot of the Georgia Buddhist Vihara), on Friday the 5th of October at 7 PM at the SIBC vihara premises in Tukwila, WA. This Dhamma sermon will be offered in English and Sinhala and the focus will be on children and young adults. Please come with your children and friends since this is a great opportunity to introduce them to a Dhamma sermon delivered in English.
The program is as follows
- 6.30 PM - Devotees and friends arrive at the temple
- 6.45 PM - Offering of Gilanpasa (tea) to monks
- 7.00 PM - Pansil and Commencement of the Bodhi Pooja
- 7.30 PM - Light dinner
- 8.30 PM - Dhamma Sermon by Venerable Thripitakawedi Panamwela Wajirabuddhi
- 9.30 PM - Close of events
Our guest speaker, Ven. Thripitakawedi Panamwela Wajirabuddhi, was born in Sri Lanka in the Matara District. He was ordained as a novice monk in 1980 at the Dharmaduthashrama Vidyala, Colombo 09, under the guidance of late Venerable Dr. Parawahera Pangnananda Nayaka Maha Thero. His higher ordination took place at Malwathu Maha Vihara, Kandy, Sri Lanka in 1987.
Venerable Wajirabuddhi has a BA Thripitakavedi degree from Bhikkhu University Anuradhapura, a Masters degree from the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka and a Language skill Diploma from the Interactive college and technology in Atlanta, Georgia USA. He has been in Buddhist missions in Thailand and United States, and established the Georgia Buddhist Vihara in Atlanta, Georgia in year 2000.
