Vassana Aradhana (Invitation) Ceremony

Vassana season is a period where Buddhist monks take time to offer advice and sermons to the lay people. Vassana season begins with the Esala poya, the full moon day in the month of July and ends in October with Katina pooja.

As part of this tradition, lay people invite the resident monks to engage in religious activities during the Vassana season. Vassana pooja is the formal event where the monks are cordially invited to commence the Vassana program for the year.

For the year 2019, the Vassana pooja is scheduled on 20th of July and the Katina pooja is scheduled on 19th and 20th of October.
