Vassana Aradhana Ceremony - 2020

Vassana Aradhana (Invitation) Ceremony

Vassana season is a period where Buddhist monks take time to offer advice and sermons to the lay people. Vassana season begins with the Esala poya, the full moon day in the month of July and ends in October with Katina pooja.

As part of this tradition, lay people invite the resident monks to engage in religious activities during the Vassana season. Vassana pooja is the formal event where the monks are cordially invited to commence the Vassana program for the year.

For the year 2020, the Vassana pooja is scheduled on 11th of July and the Katina pooja is scheduled on 10th and 11th of October.

Your health is a top priority for us. We will be conducting this year’s Vassana ceremonies in accordance with the Covid-19 guidelines for religious organizations offered by the State of Washington and King county health officials. As such, this event will have a limited in-person participation. This post will be updated with more details of the specific measures taken by the temple to ensure healthy participation.
