Katina Cheewara Pooja (Robe Donation Ceremony) - 2022

This is a past event. This event took place on October 23, 2022

We commenced the Vassana period in July with the kind patronage Mr. and Mrs. Chandra and Madhu Ranaweera family. We have been conducting weekly Vassana programs since July - thank you for your active participation. We also thank the resident monks who took an active interest in conducting programs and keeping us in the path of Dhamma.

Katina event is the culmination of Vassana programs - during Katina, devotees present the Katina Cheewara to a resident monk as a gesture of their gratitude. We will conduct a Maha pirith session at SIBC temple on October 22nd (Saturday) within a specially constructed Pirith Mandapa. This will be followed by the Katina Dana and the Perahera by children on October 23rd (Sunday).

Please mark these dates in your calendar and tell your friends. You don’t want to miss this great ceremony conducted according to Sri Lankan cultural tradition.

Katina is also the main fund-raising event for SIBC for the rest of the year. Your generous donations in the past have enabled us to complete the work in the Dharma Shala and the parking lot, which will benefit the community for many more years to come.

You can help by committing to donate a cheewara at the Katina event. This year, especially in view of our fundraising goal, we have a suggested donation amount of $150 per family. We will gladly accept any amount higher or lower than this amount. Make your donation in person during the event (preferred) or directly via the SIBC paypal.
