Sinhala and Tamil New Year heralds the dawn of the new year for people of Sri Lanka and South Asia. This year, SIBC is celebrating Sinhala and Tamil New year on Saturday April 22nd, at the temple premises in Tukwila.

Program

• 9:45AM – Arrival and networking
• 10.00 AM – Lighting the oil lamp and observance of five precepts
• 10:30AM - Oil anointment ceremony / Seth pirith (New year blessings)
• 11.00 AM – Offering of Buddha Pooja and Dana for Maha Sangha
• 12.30 PM – Traditional Ganudenu with parents / traditional greeting with Bulath
• 1:00PM - Community Lunch with New year specialties

Dress code

We don’t have a dress code, but it’s an opportunity to wear traditional Sri Lankan clothes with your children. If not, you can wear what’s comfortable. Weather permitting, you will have the opportunity to meet your friends outdoors and exchange new year greetings.
